Hi my first post here so hope i can make some sence.

so, my garage is about 30ft away from my house on my own land.

i used to have a meter in the garage which has now been remove. (no elec in garage now)

in the garage i still have the small CU which only has a 16 and 32 mcb plus the isolation switch.

from a socket in the house (closest to garage) can i add a double poll switch next to the socket from the socket.

from the double pole switch can i run a 3 core cable to the CU in the garage and have power again in the garage?

please note i can not get from the house CU to the garage CU its full and to far.

thanks for any advise

thanks for the quick reply,

not sure if you saw it as i added that i can not get from the house cu to the garage direct, only from a socket in the house (spur)

what thickness cable would you suggest was going to use 2.5mm. no heavy work in garage

thanks

Hi,
I would have an isolator switch (60amp) fed from main coming supply via henly block. So in effect your splitting your tails, 2 for your main cu and 2 for your isolator. From the isolator, a 10mm swa to the garage c/u . Make sure you make of the armoured at one end (ideally the isolator end in the main house). Also, how will you be running the swa to the garage (underground, on wall etc )??

If you do connect to the existing RFC then you will have to install a fused connection unit to connect into so you don't overload the RFC, which will limit you to a max of 13A supply to the garage.
