hi
just been to have a look at a security light a friend of mine as had fitted. the electrician has spured off a socket into a fcu and then out to the light all in 1.5mm T&E. the fuse is correct etc. but on the minor works cert he hasnt entered the R1+R2 figure or the measured Zs. is this ok or should i advise my friend to get the electrician back to test these.
I ask because i am training as an electrician and thought all parts of the cert was to be filled in?
thanx for any replies.

What instances require a RCD protected external lighting circuit and what don't? I usually don't bother with both domestic or commercial. Am I doing this wrong?

btw confused, the link goes where? is that the definitve answer i still can't see it in black and white... IE all outside lights should be rcd/rcbo protected...please just show me, so that I can inform my local council,,,and get tons of work

"5.7.4 Fixed Equipment

Fixed equipment in the garden such as permanent lighting attached to buildings, should be securely erected with all cables buried or securely fixed to permanent structures clear of the ground. All insulated class II equipment is recommended where possible. Outdoor fixed equipment is not required to be protected by an RCD. A disconnection time of 0.4 seconds is required.

are you registered/qualified and who is signing the work off for you?

not being funny mate but thats a notifiable job you have said you are only a trainee replacing the cu makes you alone responsible for every circuit connected to that board so if something goes wrong its you who is n trouble

hi
i am qualified to a degree, i just put training as i am still learning/gaining experience. i am registered with elecsa ( passed assesment last week) so i am competent at doing the work.but reading the original post it does sound like im saying im unqualified sorry for the confusion.
