Seeking adult apprenticeship - Northern Ireland

Had hoped to have secured work by now, but haven't yet managed to do so and time wont wait for me.

Ideally looking for work within reasonable distance of Portadown, in order to minimise travel on apprenticeship wage, but I need this and will travel whatever distance it takes.

Have own tools and transport, some experience and am keen to learn.

Can't offer employment references as I've been self-employed for almost 25 years.

Open to offers for full apprenticeship or even a couple of days work per week to get me through the first year.

I hadn't as I'd been mainly looking at smaller operations.

Just took a look at their website and it seems they're keen on training apprentices - even inviting CVs to be emailed. I'll give them a call in the morning to see what the prospects might be for an older apprentice and then try to draw up some sort of CV.

Good shout ?


Have to say that approaching companies is quite daunting after so many years, especially when most of my employment history is essentially a huge black hole. Think it's time to charge up the beard trimmer.

Unfortunately many companies will only take on apprentices up to the age of 24/25.
