Had to send my DiLog 9083p back to DiLog today as the poor thing's died! The girl on the phone said it could be 2-3 weeks, but I'm hoping she was giving me a worst case scenario (screen is going 'FUSE' so hopefully it will just be a fuse). Has anyone dealt with DiLog repairs (or repairs under warranty in general) who knows how long it's likely to be?

Also contacted my local Alpha to see if they would repair it any quicker but they can't repair it at all. They are hiring a fluke MFT, but I've never used one. ÂŁ75 plus vat for a week, and he said he may be able to do a day rate for ÂŁ30! Does anyone know of any firm that does rental of MFTs, preferably DiLog and/or cheaper?

Trying to line up a couple of telly aerials, anything else anyone can think of that I can do for the next three weeks?? Isn't it amazing how one tool can totally stop work!?!

Ze Test come up with 'fuse'

If you do a search on the forum it may give you the answers you need and anyone else who uses that tester.

Everything's coming up with fuse at the moment. A while ago I had a problem with Zs saying fuse but only on one or two circuits for no apparent reason - put a thread up then but didn't get any joy, that may be what you're remembering. I'll have a look though, good thinking! (although I've already sent it....)

I can sympathise with you rocker
My stand alone 1year and 1 month old insulation tester died a death on me last week
Just been calibrated and just out of guarantee date
Sods law struck again
Another 200 or so of the loads of money I earn wasted again

That's some real bad luck right there, sorry to hear that, man. Luckily (for me) mine is still under warranty, so hopefully I won't have to pay to get it seen to. Does anyone know what these companies (especially DiLog obviously) are like with mending things under warranty - are they likely to just do it, or will they always 'find something' that somehow invalidates your warranty so you have to pay? I was a bit miffed at the people I bought it off (test-meter.co.uk) who were selling it 'with a 2 year warranty', but when I rang them up it turns out that's just the manufacturer's warranty, which would come with the unit anyway! I was hoping for a quick replacement but now I have to go through the rigmarole of getting the thing repaired.

Ho hum.

What make/model was it Des? Am interested in reliability etc of different brands and models.
Have you considered trying to get it replaced by quoting the 'sale of goods act'? Or at least trying for a contribution to a new one from the manufacturer?

Two more weeks! TWO MORE WEEKS! Have so far taken on the following jobs:

Aerial installs
Glazed a window
Hung several doors
Cut about a foot off a table

Currently LOST the folowing jobs:
Cooker circuit
CCTV job which was from the same people with the cooker circuit
2 showers
Nearly 1 shower who's woman is getting a bit fed up of waiting

Unfortunately, though, nothing big enough to justify hiring a tester. Getting a bit bored of this now.

I was having a 'fuse' problem occasionally on a Zs test, but that seemed to go away, but now everything is going 'fuse' and according to the engineer at DiLog 'the whole board is blown' so it's have to be sent back to the factory, that's why it's taking so long. Begs the question 'what are the fuses for', mind. Still, I'm hoping its going to be fixed under warranty so can't complain too much.

Think you need a full report on whats wrong with it and when you have it in writing send a copy back to them asking your very good question whats the point in fuses. The answer we will all be interested in

my 1552 kept coming up with a fuse symbol yet fuse was fine, then problem seemed to go away?

If that comes up and stays up its is a very expensive problem ÂŁ180 plus thats what megger quoted my m8, bloody quick blow fuses, they have one internally for every circuit board, think there are 4/5 in the megger when I pried my m8s open :D
