Came across this video of an overhead cut and reconnect. What do you guys think? Is it done the same way in the UK?

Interesting, that guy was really helpful explaining the steps to the folks along the way. Nice to see such courtesy!

I guess in the USA the use of insulated gloves at all times when working is normal here? Clearly needed for something like that battery powered crimp tool where you won't (easily) get an insulated version at any sane price.

While overhead supply lines are around are the norm in rural areas, probably the majority of the UK would be underground supplies and so digging and resin joints for the feed cable.

Another very different aspect is having a plug-in meter like that doubling up at the cut-out/isolator. That is not something i have ever seen for real, as here we have a cable head that has a fuse for both protection and as the primary means of isolating the home side from the supplier side.

Our meters are hard-wired after the cut out and before our panel (some lucky ones have an isolation switch first, as we are not <cough> supposed to ever pull the supply fuse for isolation. Even though our regulations state that live working is an absolute last resort, meaning the fuse really should be removed in such cases to meet health and safety regulations...
