Firms like these tend to search google for forums where topics are based on their company. I'd hazard a guess at 20something being from said firm (only 2 posts on the forums, and both in this topic) and with all due respect I'd also put my neck on the line and say hes talking utter BS!

The links provided in a previous post tell you everything you need.

Yep im gonna agree with you there, just a shame he didn't reply to my *ahem* technical post above.

I'm going to tar ADC with the same brush, as well.

Im registered with service magic. I have 2 leads a week. But seeing as you got to pay for them and some of the reviews iv read on the net. It seems abit of a con so i wouldnt bother.

Hi I`m new here My name s Adrian and I have problem with service magick ltd. They send my leter where i have to pay 243 pound`s for nothing. They send me few bathroom fitting without my opinion ,I`m interest or not. All this works it was in spam . So I didn`t touch this work`s , I wrote to Service magick Ltd I can`t pay for nothing b couse i didn`t touch this work`s and I never contact with this costumer . What I think this company is scam and they made a fraud. What can I do with this?

This is last leter from this company:

We are therefore giving formal notice of the commencement of LITIGATION and we have instructed a solicitor to recover the total outstanding balances including costs. A claim for the amount of £243.85, plus the relevant court fees and penalty charges will be made to the county court under the Late Payments Act. The resulting County Court Judgement (CCJ) will be lodged with the credit reference agencies which will result in the denial of credit facilities.

In order to settle the amount of £243.85, please use one of the following payment methods below:

• Card Payment - Please contact me on 020 3370 5511 to provide us with a credit/debit card.
• Cheque - Quoting reference and made payable to ServiceMagic Ltd and sent to: ServiceMagic Ltd, 4th Floor Union house, 182-194 Union Street, London, SE1 0LH.
• Bank Transfer to HSBC bank, sort code , account number quoting reference .

Failure to settle your account within 7 days of the date of this letter will result in the immediate instigation of recovery proceedings without further reference to you. This action will be enforced by the bailiffs of the court and you are facing the confiscation of your property

We've been plagued by one or two of these a lot of late - one even claiming that "someone" from our company registered us on the site, because they never would take it on themselves to cold call.......yeah right.

As most have found, they look for a certain "commitment" from you - in the form of paying for leads, a lot like you'd pay for a mailing list, which IMHO would be of statistically greater value. The costs of £9. £15, or £30 (I think) per lead, work out very expensive next to many other methods, when you consider, £30 a "big" lead, three times a week for a month is roughly £400 a month.

You could do a lot of damage of Google Adwords for that kind of money, with a very simple campaign, and probably generate a far better return.

I'm not at all convinced by any of them - and even less so when if you challenge them, they're not prepared to back their services in any way at all with a trial of any type - we asked them for a month of free leads, effectively to pay for six months further leads, which we would have committed to had the leads been of a quality we could use.....they were not at all interested.

Why wouldn't you put your faith in your service like that? Seemed like a win-win deal to me. Unless they had something to hide about the quality of their lead generation.

I also can't see with most of them exactly how they guarantee trades suppliers are of better quality than anyone else not on their service, or convince potential customers that the "few" are the ones to go with.

It does seem to me to be a scam from both directions - however, I will say that in principle, the idea of a "recommended" trader service would be a good idea, but for human nature. Most of these lead companies, are only there to make money, and they don't really care how, so long as they can bill for something.
