Been searching the Internet for ages with no luck!

Trying to turn my garage into a gym. Need better lighting. There is a light switch but it is by the main garage door, and I am using the rear door as the entrance (main door blocked off now with shleves etc).
So I want to run an extension cable from the single plug socket to near the door (one with switches) then plug in a lamp on a cable that I can run to the ceiling (wooden rafters).

So far I have found only these (I cannot add link to the lamps, sorry!):

CFL grow lamp hanger (ebay)

WHITE CLIP-ON LIGHT LIGHTS OFFICE, STUDIO, GARAGE SHED (Amazon)

I guess I want something more like the second one but with 3-4 bulbs. Does such a thing exist?

If not I'll get 4 on the clip ons And have lots of cables.

Cheers

Jon.

Jon - if you want to light up the room by single lights on leads then it's fine. It's not pretty or clever, but it's fine. ASSUMING that each 'unit' is in itself intrinsically safe, then your limiting factor is the 13A fuse in the plug in the 4way adaptor. And at 4kW of lighting, you'll have drowned in sweat a long time before a fire starts. Just make sure that each lamp isn't near a combustible surface, of course.

I used it last night with the one lamp and it was light enough actually. Not bright, but certainly enough light to exercise with. So for now, case closed I think!

Still surprised that there are no festoon lights on the market with just 4-5 lights.

I'd probably just add a bit of 3 core and a switch by the other door.
Plugging in some fairy lights isn't generally a solution an electrician would consider - we tend to be more about permanently fixing lights, cables and switches to the building.

You can make / get cut festoon light to pretty much any length, and decide the spacing of the lamps as well. It's an easy one for any independent wholesaler to get sorted, though might be pricey as a one-off.
