So I have been told I am working away, they have not said anything about sharing a room with someone to me as of yet, however I heard one of the other guys who is going away is sharing a room? Is this okay as I feel I would rather have my own personal space after work and since I have not even met the guy I’m sharing a room with yet it feels weird.

I do not want to say anything as I’ve just started my apprenticeship and don’t want to get sacked or anything. I have no experience at all so I don’t feel like I can really say anything about having my own room

what are your guys thoughts?

It's perfectly possible to have a civil and non-pushy conversation where you ask if there is any possibility of not sharing a room or suggest finding your own digs for a price per night, even if you end up paying a small part of it yourself to get what you want. Even if he says no for financial reasons you can't be sacked for asking a question and it doesn't have to be unpleasant.
He or she will mainly be wary of young apprentices thinking they are God's gift to the world and keen to exercise their 'rights' so just make sure you don't fit that stereotype. Just be easy-going and polite.

Sharing rooms sucks even when you have a decent roomie, If they're an --- hat with no regard for the fact its a shared space it's a living hell. I shared with a guy once who's Snoring was so bad by the 3rd night i had 2 options , kill him or sleep in the transit van. I chose the 2nd option and called my boss in the morning with his options, find someone else to replace me or get me a single room.

No body should be forced to share a room. You should be given the choice! There is nothing worse than sharing with someone who snores, farts or any other bodily fuction that is disgusting or annoying. This is why I spend most of my life in the spare bedroom at home ?.

Though back in the day when the gaffer would just pay you an allowance for food and accomodation, we used to pocket the money, bunk up in the van parked on a services or somewhere similar then nip the local super market for food. More money for beer!!

I worked doing Morrison supermarket one time in kircauldy Scotland and one guy towed a caravan from Preston. Then they were heading london direction. While others shared rented caravans close to job..

Watever works.

Sharing a flat is bad enough, you need privacy when working away
