Just been in Homebase to choose a light fitting with a customer and i see this shining example of electrical work.
Looking at the cable run they have tapped into a swa from the old car park lights and then run it up a pole to service the car park enforcement cameras to clock entry and exit times.
The cowboys didnt even make an attempt to use some magical insulation tape to cover it.
In event the little hole fills with rain and some kid comes along then could be dangerous.
I put my tester on it to see if live and 240v going down it.
Told the manager in the store and his response is classic... "Its okay as the electrician is registered with niceic and hes tested it and everything. We are only allowed to use approved electricians due to health and safety!!"
I bit my lip and held back on this one but im going to email their head office as this is ridiculous.

from picture looks like it is on the ground or have I missed something?!

yes its on the ground, it is covered by about half an inch at most of cheap tarmac stuff you buy in a bucket in b and q the picture shows it completely exposed and looks like it was never covered, they must have chased out a little groove for the white flex and joined it on to the old black cable to the right...

The more you look at it the sadder it gets, it’s awful.
Oh and Gavin, clean your camera lens, that photos as bad as @Vortigern s attempts!
I have finally removed the plastic film off the camera on back of my phone, only had it 18 months!! and surprised it stayed stuck on all this time. must be good LG engineering. future pictures will be better and clearer;)

Question: did OP test this with prong testers or a no-contact stick tester? A stick tester may have lit up at 12v .
If you used a ‘proper’ tester, you touched it last... they’ll swing the blame somehow.

On my way into town for rugby i cut through said carpark at homebase and guess my moaning and email to hq had an effect. They have fenced it off! Not fixed it but decided to put a nasty plastic fence around it.
Its a start i guess..

I would have laid on the ground with some shaving foam around my mouth by the cable with a bunch of keys I dropped and tried to pick up. See how long it took someone to notice.:smilingimp:
bloody dramea queen! :D

Use squirty cream, tastes better if you get hungry after the 100th person walks over your drama queen, twitching, bad acting, attention seeking, compensation chasing body! Or is that being a bit hard on you!
