I was doing a job for a local builder when the plumber turns up. Him and his apprentice thought it'd be funny to use their 2.5t transit to push my little van down the round about 15m into the middle of the road!

This will sound stupid but no matter what vehicle I have be it worth a ÂŁ1 or ÂŁ10000 I make sure I look after them and keep them as mint as poss it's something I have always done. Anyway mine was in gear at the time and fully loaded too! They have broken two bumper mounts and snapped the radiator bracket so now the front end is very loose along with cracking the new number plate I put on only 4 weeks ago and creasing the bumper and scratching like crazy! I spoke to the plumber and him and the apprentice reckon they pushed it by hand, bearing in mind the plumber is 5ft 2 and 61 years old and the apprentice only has one leg?!?!

The customer saw.

What should I do? Claim on insurance? Hold the damage money back from another job he is doing for me?

Like I say it's only a van but its my property!

Hold the money back, can't see them admitting to anything! Get a written statement off customer plus never use them again, let it hurt there pockets.

There is a saying "don't get mad get even"!

If he did it with his vehicle I suppose they could say he wilfully drove into your vehicle and you can claim from his insurance company.
The problem is that if you claim on your insurance and your insurance company can't or don't want to recover the cost from the plumber you'll lose your no claims.

Holding back money sounds like it might be easier, although it could have other implications.

he won't need the money in hospital, which is where you should put him.

or get a quote from main dealer to put right the damage, give him the quote, and demand payment. at the end of the day, it's criminal damage, you could have them arrested.

personally id phone the police...and grow a set of balls,do you always allow people to treat your stuff like that, failing that batter the pair of them which is option 2..

I would love to batter them! But due to reasons I can't mention I shouldn't really go causing the trouble on the fighting side. Police sounds like a good option, didn't want to call them and then they laugh me out!

yeah mate ask him pay for damge or the sledghammer would be out and his van would look smaller than yours by the time i had finished and his face what a muppet

or if you want to be polite get the police and have him arrested for vandilism or dangerous driving or soemthing

he must have a candle burning in his head very dimly lit

Get him to pay the repair costs. I bet he'd be kicking off if it was his van.

I know a few tricks but they're not for discussion on such an adult forum...

I would have murdered the pair of them!!!

Theres having a joke on site but, there is a line.....about 3 miles behind that 'prank' by the sound of it!!!!!!

Glad no one thinks it's a pointless argument! I'm going to make sure he pays one way or another. Just can't believe someone would do that? It would never cross my mind!

A lad I used to work with, 6 foot 6 bouncer, would've battered them on the spot.
Otherwise, tell them you're going to treat it as a road accident, they ran into the back of you, and go through your van insurance. Unless they want to fix your van, by a reputable repairer of course, at their expense. Give them the option, don't let it go.

Whilst it must have been tempting to nut the pillocks, surely a better option would be to involve the police. Should be pretty straightforward if you have a witness!
