agree 100% with malcolm. looks like the CU has been through that mangle that he so graciously posted yesterday. once you start poking aroung in there, can of worms. the only thing you could do is strip completely and start from scratch. is the customer willing to pay for that extra work just for a couple of lights? i,m sure you can do a minor at your own home for assessment. fit an outside light or something?
Thanks telectrix, I have already done a CU change at my home and NICEIC insists that the "Major Job" & "Minor Job" should at different addresses less than 30 minutes apart. Any suggestions as is?

Yes .....................do as you have planned and use this as your minor. By all means when he is there comment on look at the state of that board

" I would never do it like that, as it would now be a nightmare to do a PIR on it"

And "

"That SWA not glanded in. I know it is in a insulated CU, and they have earthed it, but I would have still glanded it for mechanical protection"

All this will show him that you like to do a professional job as such. So like the old saying goes every cloud as a silver lining, so use those rough jobs to outline the kind of job you would do. And really the bottom line is, your paying his salary and he is looking at ways to pass not fail you.

That's an expert advice, thank you!

as long as your CU at home doesn't look like this one!!!!!!!

think he'll pass you just on being able to find the correct MCB to isolate when you did ther minor job

I managed to find the MCB, alright, but had trouble digging out the earth & neutral in that tiny/dark/dingy cupboard under the stairs.

My CU; it's up to scratch with REG and with red/blue & brown/black, I am still working on the cosmetics. Cheers!

post a pic when it's finished. ( the 1 at home, i mean. ) . let's see how neat it is. anywhere close to one og nick's you win the coconut. remember to attach the 2 colours sticker. assessor will be looking fot that.
