Hello, this morning I was having a shower with really really hot water. Shower lasts at least 15 minutes... at the end shower circuit breaker tripped.
It does not work any more, when I try to switch it on, it does not "keep the position".
I have a brand new circuit breaker, bought some time ago just in case, do you think I can replace it or the fault can be more important and you suggest to call a professional?
Thanks :)

What sort of shower is it? Electrically heated or hot water supplied via your hot water system. It would probably be best to call in a 'professional', as you stated. If you give some more information, members will be able to advise who to call (no it won't be ghost busters, before anyone says!).

The circuit breaker might just be doing it's job- of tripping because there is a fault in the shower. You certainly should not replace it without knowing where the fault actually is.
Random swapping of components in the hope of fixing the problem is not the way forward.

It's an electric shower.

So, basically, you exclude the possibility that the circuit breaker tripped due to the very hot shower...

I see... on a first time I was thinking that the hot water overheated the circuit and that was the reason the MCB tripped :)

No. The MCB tripping indicates there is a fault, electrically, either with the shower or the present circuit arrangements or components. I can think of a few things it might be, but I would not want to mislead you. As said, get a professional in to diagnose the problem.

The temperature of the shower water has no effect that would cause the circuit breaker to trip. There's an electrical problem and it's very unlikely it's the circuit breaker itself so I'd suggest you call an experienced electrician.

Thanks for your suggestion guys, i'll call an electrician. One more question as I don't think I can have someone in for today... If I replace by myself the MCB and it works, may I have a shower or there is risk of an electrical hazard?

Don't replace anything, call a professional. Only they can assess the situation with regards to hazards and safety. Not you and not anyone on an internet forum
