It doesn't need to be outside the bathroom. Is it a pullcord or standard wall mounted switch?

Edit: but there are requirements regarding the location of switches in a bathroom. Look up Bathroom Zones.
 
Yes, it'll be fine outside zone 1. Just make sure you use common sense as well, I.E. make sure it's unlikely to be splashed significantly.

not sure he'll have the relevant literature. if he did, he wouldn't be on here. obviously another diy'er.
 
If you have the choice personally I allways like to have all switches etc out of the bathroom. Not a fan off pullcords these days. However if its not just as above.
 
Abid...... please answer these questions and within them you may find your own:
1) What is the purpose of a shower isolator switch?
2) What are the components of a pull cord switch?
3) Which component is sited where?
4) What part of your body touches what part of the pull switch when in use?

5) Are you doing or attempting work in a section 701 area that you are not fully competent for?
6) Are you doing or attempting work in a special location under part p of the building regulations that you have neither pre-notified to LABC or are deemed competent to self-certify under a scheme membership?
