Discuss shower in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Final circuits, exceeding 32A don't require additional protection even though it's in a special location. As long as it's bonded. I personally thought this was a boy gash too. It's just an area the lecturer picked up on when I did my 2391.

But I do always fit an RCD.

It doesn't 'have' to have a RCD if it's over 32A, which it will be if it's a 9.5kW
Sorry, but that is completely wrong.
I think you are getting confused with fixed resistive loads not needing overload protection. Even with no overload protection, they do need fault protection.
And, being as the shower is in a special location, that means it must be RCD protected (if a new install).
Where does the 32amps come into it?
Distribution circuits over 32 amps, or maybe something else?
Please give us some Reg numbers to back up your strange interpretation.

Not notifiable.

And to be honest no one in authority cares anyway.

If there was a shower in a portakabin in a truck depot to change, thats definately not notifiable & they still don 't care.

It's all a bit silly really

Regulation 701.411.3.3

Additional protection shall be provided for all low voltage circuits of the location, by use of one or more RCD's...

Setting aside best practise, manu's instructions and good common sense was the existing shower and final circuit installed under the 15th/16th Regs ? someone remind me what the regs said then about RCD protection ?
