i know its not the done thing, but would any mcs reg company fancy commissioning and signing off a pv system as to get feed in tarriff ?
pm me if you would prefer not to go public,
i seen a thread before regarding this?

Yes he is no longer on the MCS list, he was registered for just three months i believe, so all those that had a sign off done now have no comeback or workmanship guarantee.

Hi guys, so I take it a MCS certified installer will not do a sign off if he has not done the work, but what about if someone just wanted the install done, paying for labour - are there installers that would do that or is it £4,000 for labour or nothing, lol.?

It is all about a paper trail.
If you are MCS accredited, you can buy the products and then use subcontractors to complete the whole install, because you will have the paper trail from beginning to end, should there be a problem with any of the install the customer would have one point of contact, who is responsible for the whole install.
But you can not sign off a job that somebody else has sourced the equipment and installed it, who would the customer go to if there was a problem? The person who installed it? The person who supplied the equipment? Or the person who signed it off?

If you think about it it makes sense really.

I hope this helps.

hi earthstore
so how would it be if the customer was actually the supplier and the installer but not mcs regestered,is it similar to part p, where qualified sparks cant pass off work unless registered with a scheme, so qualified solar installers cant get system passed if not mcs ?

that scenario would be just labour only and certification. wouldnt need the papertrail as you as supplier would have it

Yes, that is basically it.

A part p spark will not sign off somebody else's installation, well not if he has any sense, even of it tests ok he does not know exactly how it has been installed.

However, pv has to have the whole paper trail, that is the MCS rules.
In these quiet times maybe someone will do it for you, but it is againt the regulations.
I hope this helps.

Hi again, "trying to save money" doesn't really come into it. We parted company with the original sparky, as he was so unreliable. Jon
