Is there such a thing as a silent pull cord switch, they just seem far too noisy for use in an on-suite.

Those are what I have fitted already, the problem is the plasterboard ceiling makes it a sound box and it's still not silent enough.

Can you damp the plasterboard down a bit? Some good solid nogins to fix the switch to to and perhaps glue a double layer of plasterboard on top of the existing in the areas either side of the nogins.

Already fitted to nogins, thinking along the lines of a "Lord" mount to separate it from the ceiling.

The Quinetic switch's I have are just as noisy, unless they have improved them recently?

Microwave sensor sounds interesting, will have to investigate them.

other option is a smart switch and recever via a contactor in the attic

done a huge industrial kitchen few years ago with all the circuits on a mk grid switch via 16 contactors worked a treat client wanted nothing on show

as mentioned by Westward a link is the way forward, nothing wrong with that and the pull cord will then be the on off switch.

In addition to Brians post above you can get electronic impulse relays, so no thud as they switch in and out.
