got an electric shock today as i took down an emergency light. I had isolated circuit and proved dead but forgot to disconnect batteries and my METAL watch stap went across the invertor!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ouch

Bloke where I once worked did that on a car battery when fiddling with his car at lunch time, he ended up at a specialist burns unit - his metal watch strap melted on his wrist!

Many years ago I was working on a works fun day with bouncy castles stall etc. We put a supply to a bucking bronco. 63A three phase off a very old rewireable mem switch fuse. When it came to wrapping up time I was stood talking to the bronco owner whilst my mate went to switch off the supply. I had the socket in my hand, which belonged to the bronco holder, and a screwdriver in the other ready to disconnect it. The guy then said to me " dont bother disconnecting it just chop it off"....without thinking I did just that.....:eek:Boom....big hole blown in my tee shirt...all the hairs round my belly button gone... black hands and a pair of side cutters with no ends left...Luckily they were well insulated cutters.

Moral...never listen to a cowboy....this is a true story btw

I held a phase in each hand once but less said about that the better...I was an arse and learnt a valuable lesson:rolleyes:

Funny one...first week as a 16yr old apprentice my boss told me to clear up the workshop and take the ....ter down to the compactor.

I was too scared to ask what he said but right in front of me was a heatrae sadia instantaneous water heaterin a box so I compacted it with great joy, whilst mashing it up the boss called on my radio to ask why I hadnt compacted the manky old FILTER he had told me to do earlier

ÂŁ600 heater compacted ooops!

Hello well I stocked up on trunking and copper pipe and everything was fine until I was doing a little plumbing and left the pipe container open on my van next day belting it down dual carriage way stop at junction in rush hour all 30m of copper pipe flew out the end like a javalin good job no one in front never did stop
now have one of these van guard things

Wiring a small single storey flat roofed domestic extension on the back of a 400 year old place with chalk/flint walls 3ft thick, while not feeling very well suffering with tonsillitis, call of desparation l from builder needing it doing asap as plaster wants to get in & do his fancy glazed plaster work.

Did first fix packed up went home spent the next week & half in bed very ill (chest infection set in) .

Called back 4 weeks later to 2nd fix;

Ringmain no probs
Boiler heating controls no probs
Bonding no probs
Outside socket no probs

.......LIGHTING  omfgg i forgot the supply leg from db for the lights ....... all the ceilings & walls glazed plastered

That took some sorting I can tell you.

Upshot is when ill I now stay away from work.

Just done a periodic today with 6x 6 way D.Bs and about 3 pages of defects so plenty paperwork. loaded the van up an drove off. If was at the roundabout onto the duel carrigeway i saw the folder slide of my roof and the paperwork scatter everywhere. I couldnt do a uturn so lost the lot. I still havent worked out what to say to the boss as i have to go back to do it all again.:(:(:confused:

This happened twice to me in a week. No excuse but people saw me outside the customers house and then thought they would come and speak to me, forgetting that I left it on the roof drove off and it was gone.

I felt like a prat.
