SirKit Breaker

I have noticed recently a few post "can I ask a silly question".

There is no such thing as a silly question. If you want to ask a question ask it. You may think it is silly, but how many people look on here and think I wish somebody would ask......this or that.

We are not all professors on here, and even the more experienced of us don't and never will know it all, and we ask some basic questions from time to time because we don't all have the same specialities. Good examples are the lads doing commercial day in day out, will come on and ask what to me is a basic question about domestic. its not because they are stupid, its just not their normal comfort zone, and vice versa if i get a commercial job.

There is only one way to gain knowledge, and that is to ask. So don't be shy.:)

Cheers.........Howard

It's a very good scenario you've used Sirkit. When a HV maintenance spark came on here asking about a small domestic job in his own home I was delighted to help and receive a thanks for it. This man knows a hell of a lot more about electricity than me but all the little regs that we stick to threw him. A simple question answered and job done. I must admit the biting off of heads dose happen but they don't have to put it in the title. Just post that your a student and don't understand X,Y or Z.

You see a sign "dont walk on the grass". Who put the sign there?
Sorry Howard I couldn't resist as well ;)

This is what the forum is all about its amazing how much knowledge you pick up from the silly questions.

There will always be people who bite others heads off but thats life, just wish I was like them and was able to retain every piece of information out of all the different reg books guidence notes etc.

And lets not forget we experienced ones can't remember everything we have learned. I bet there are things i have forgotten which the apprentices and newly qualified lads have just learned, so their input and take on things should be treated as just as valuable.

Cheers........Howard

I totally agree Howard you never stop learning in this game and the term electrician does cover a broad spectrum BUT there have been some very silly question's posted on this site and if were honest we have at some point had a little chuckle
