Just wondering what everyone is using for slate these days? I've not had the joy of a retrofit slate install for over a year and with a van free of the old kit i'd like to re-asses my options.

I went from Schletter to Limpets a couple of years back after a complete disaster with galv nails and very brittle slates but was never massively happy with the limpets. That said i've not had any issues with them.

Cheers

Almost gone over 100% to in-roof, whether new build or retrofit. They look so much better and our clients tend to be on the discerning side, the installation cost is similar too.

Interesting, I've done a few GSE on new builds now and i agree. My worry with Retrofit is finding the felt in poor condition and having to re-roof the whole thing. Do you strip the whole roof and re-felt or just the area under the array?

We favour in-roof every time. Are retrofittung GSE to an existing array next week where the roof is leaking. Shallow pitch (25deg) and huge moss build up where water is running off panels. At least this way can be sure cause of leak is eradicated. In this case we will be replacing the felt and battens.

Like Worcester, have only done one above roof on pitched roof since last September.

Used Limpets as well at one stage but don't like the distance it places the array above the roof surface.
