Sleeving, grommets and other lazy faults

Im getting really sick of going to jobs that have been done in the last few years where the electrician hasnt used sleeving, grommets ect. Im finding it very rare for electricians to bother with this stuff.

Ive spent the last couple of months going round putting right and checking jobs done by other sparks and most of them have needed sleeving done on them.

A lot of these jobs were done perfectly well apart from this one thing.

I know its only minor but when im doing anything with these jobs i have to disconnect all the cables and sleeve them up. It really irritates me. Ive spoken to plenty of sparks who I would consider to be better than me generally in terms of knowledge or skill, buit they refuse to use sleeving as they dont see the point.

Does anyone else find this is widespread?

How do you guys feel about sleeving cables?

I dont know. I go away for one night and when I get back I find you lot have turned a serious and potentialy boring discussion into a chat about the merits of beer.

No mate. Id much rather read a topic about beer. When I saw 5 pages of replies i thought "Crikey. That ones taken off".

Off topic, but it certainly seems on topic in this thread, I have yet to meet a fellow sparkie who is a member of a non drinking society (with the exception of alcoholics anonymous).

Add to AA, those of a religious sect, those who have a medical condition and those who are just plain p'ss poor broke.

My drinking days end when a medical condition (death) gets me.

My mate dragged me to an AA meeting, before the coffee break we both legged it off to the pub!

The AA gave me a telephone number in order to help with my addiction.
When I rang the number it was the local offie !!!!!!!

Did you know that if your unemployed and can prove youre an alcaholic you can get a booze allowance on top of your benefits.

I asked my gaffer to let me go when I heard that

i was recently at a job concerning rcd tripping on sockets, i located the faulty socket, it didnt have a grommet on the metal backbox and the line cable had a nip in it touching the backbox. i can understand what you mean about sparks not using grommets.

I dont know about tel having a bar,but my bar in my lounge under the stairs is my pride and joy :sifone:

have brewed my own in the past. mostly good, but lately had a couple of bad brews. must be losing my touch.

can't praise the beer festivals in my area enough - last one was a couple of weeks ago, my favourite was 1/2 7.5% barley wine (awesome lovely stuff not at all like gold label) and 1/2 8% scrumpy lol.
no lie, 20 bucks and the wife and I were in the curry house.

if it wasn't for life luxuries such as beer I would not be able to establish a good enough reason for a lifetime spent in work.:biggrin:
