Hi, i'm an apprentice for Honeywell and i'm looking for advice for light and heating installation for a garden.

I will be using 10x 3kw heaters, 30-40x 240v. 40watt bulbs, and 10x 24v sockets (for christmas lights).

The advice needed is what cable would I need which will carry the load i.e Twin+earth 2.5mm? or will I need outdoor Armour cable and junction boxes?

Any help will be appreciated!

Depends how long your cables are for each circuit?

Whats the load for the Christmas lights?

for a start, i'd put 4 heaters on 1 phase and 3 on each of the others, the 2 lighter loaded phases could then share the smaller loads.

12 kw = 52A, so that would equate to a 10mm cable for 4 heaters. then work out the volt drop and see if 10mm will do. don't forget, with the loads not all at the end of the cable, the volt drop will not be linear, but increase as you go down the run.

I suspect this is not real and if it is, it will need a rather more experienced sparky to design and install. ,On a personal note, i wouldn't want 10 3KW heaters (assuming radiant) in my garden, imagine the years of headaches .....

Now off to the pub...
