Hi we have an smax 2008 and the AC will not work are there any car electricians in or near fareham? Southampton?

It's been re gassed, it had a fault code when cleared it works for about a minute apparently.
Been in two garages ÂŁ200 later nine the wiser! How hard can it be to fault find if your a mechanic?
Will the clutch noise be quite obvious? I've not heard anything!

Ha there is a forum for everything! Il check it out and see if I can find Anything, u don't want to fix it myself I'd like someone who know what they are doing to repair it

sounds like you've had your pants pulled down round your ankles mate!
If you have a leak in the A/C system, usually easily found by putting a uv die in the system. anybody competent should be able to trace that. Yes, you will usually hear a click when you press the button inside the car. and as for the fault code, I doubt you do, but would be interested to know what it was..?

The problem with modern cars is that the majority of the mechanics pre date wll this technology -I'd call around my local Ford dealers until you get one that has some confidence they know what they are talking about.

I'd like the blue tooth firmware on my S-Max updated, but as its the 2008 model none of my local agents know how to do it. Later models had a USB port added!

Hi,
yes all sorted, took it to fords it was a broken wire as suspected. Annoying thing is I told both previous garages I had found online it was probably a broken wire, they decided they knew better and didn't even check this. Slightly annoying

Infinity, I can see that you are a regular member on this forum, hence my reply being late but thinking you will probably read it at some point in time. I am a new member on here and am qualified in automotive vehicle refrigerant handling/air conditioning systems.

As an expert in this area of expertise it is most upsetting to here that service providers are not taking on board what customers are saying when they report faults on their vehicles systems, and it does appear that service providers actually think that a repair service to an air conditioning system is nothing more than a Recovery, Evacuate and Recharge the system.

Since July 2010 service providers who work on Air Conditioning Systems should have had to achieve a minimum qualification either through the IMI or City & Guilds to handle and work with refrigerants and vehicle Air Conditioning Systems, it's a shame that the Authorities don't do better checks to ensure that the license is achieved by service providers before supplying the refrigerants and equipment to new service providers considering adding this service to their businesses.

It is however only possible to properly understand what the A/C Machine actually does after professional training and reading the manufacturers manual to the machine, to gain an insight into the A/C Machines functions and what that machine is actually doing to the vehicles refrigerant while recovering and recharging the vehicles system, in effect it is only doing what the vehicle Air Conditioning system is actually doing with a few minor add on's, so really a service provider who just connects their A/C Machine to your car and completes a recharge of the system probably in all honesty does not really understand what service/ tests the car actually requires, and is probably more than not providing the wrong type of service the customer really needs, as in your experience with the service providers you put faith in.

Hi bud,it seems that the A/C industry has exactly the same conflicts and issues,as its' electrical counterpart.....and many others.

If this infuriates you, spending time on forums such as this, will push you to Tamazipan!
