Hi again! I believe this could be my last question for a little while as the chases have pretty much all gone in!

How are domestic smoke detectors wired?

I plan to have one in the hall way just outside the kitchen and one at the top of the stairs.

Do I take a feed from the lighting circuit and daisy chain them together? Or are there such things as masters and slaves with associated wiring?

I need the cheapest and easiest option... Thanks!

If you want to do some cursing, wire in 1.5mm 3 core.

I'm guessing they are small terminals...?

Never understood why manufacturers make terminals so small, understandably it doesn't need 1.5mm but knowing where these are mostly installed there should be consideration for common types of cable used!

It'll be the 'Economies of scale' or whatever the phrase is.
Save a few pence production costs per item, sell several million = large saving/more profit. I guess!

That explanation would make a lot of sense and would certainly explain the new bases and new boxes, with old relabelled alarm heads. I do remember...
