Smoke/heat alarm requirements on a rewire?

What are the smoke and fire alarm requirements when carrying out a full rewire on a domestic property?

I’ve had my napit assessment today at a families house that I rewired last year tested everything is good. But the assessor mentioned that fire alarms systems with a minimum of LD2 system is required if you rewire an entire property.

I can’t seem to find any information on this. Can anyone point me where to look on the type of systems required for different types of properties please?

unless its a new build or the customer requires it or advise it.
It’s not a new build no, I wouldn’t say they require it but I did advise to put some in but he said no he doesn’t want any he will buy some battery ones himself. So it’s not actually a requirement?

Should have asked the assessor where it is stated.
He said it’s not in the bs7671 but it’s somewhere in the building regulations. I’ve tried to look for it using the find in a page tool on the browser using keywords but cannot find any information.

He also said on an EICR with no RCD protection if cables are buried less than 50mm it’s a C2 but I questioned it and said wouldn’t that be a C3 because at the time it complied with the current regs and did not need RCD protection? He was saying to me if you’re between 2 options on coding then go for the harsher option as you are covered if anything goes wrong. He brought up the reasons why RCDs are out and the story about that member of MPs daughter dying.

its a pitty you shoud have pulled what the NICEIC REGARDING NO RCD code 3 IET absence of protective rcd cables buried in the wall .

I just used to argue with them. If I was told that I just wouldn't agree with them no matter how much they waffled on as to why it was a Code 2.
Should have asked where it was in the Building Regulations or if you have their email ask them now.
