On the new Top Gear show.

I was a huge fan of the old one but having watched last nights attempt at a revamp I think they should bury it and let it become a distant fond memory.
The big surprise for me was that I actually preferred Matt Le Blance to chris evans, I took a peek on the top gear website this morning and it got totally panned by everyone who watched it.

So who watched it and what are your thoughts.

I agree, you can't replace an Icon, Chris Evans oh no he aint no Clarkson, bury it let it die in peace

I can't imagine how the show are going to be able to put a positive spin on it after their website as recieved hundreds of negative comments, I couldn't find a single nice comment.

I've recorded it so will let you know when I 've watched it and what it was like.

BUT if you cast your minds back to when the "last" Top Gear crew got together it took a while for them to gel - and there were only 3 of them!

Watching it tonight on catch up TV. Should I bother?

Not if you're expecting to see Top Gear.
Paul I think the problem is the last 3 presenters were perfect together where as the new cast just seem out of sorts with each other. And Clive may be right it may just take time to gel together, the problem I see is how many viewers the show loses whille they are trying to get it right.
Also I think that the biggest obstacle for the show is that they are trying to fix something that wasn't broken.

I still say that all involved should have been punished but also locked in a room until things were resolved, to throw a cash cow like that away was stupid by all concerned.

I saw the last 20 minutes of it and i thought it was cringeworthy. Would i watch it again? Probably not. Should they have gotten rid of Clarkson and co because of a silly argument? No BUT onwards and upwards i think. Amazon have thrown a silly amount of cash at their new show, do not have the same restrictions as the lovely BBC and have basically said to the 3 of them heres the money, you do what you do best.
I think the new show will be fantastic!

Clarkson is a bit of a loose cannon, but without him and the other two blokes it won't work, a huge faux pa by Auntie to sack Jezza, the producer might have needed a thump anyway.

It was OK. I liked LeBlanc.

It seemed like they had just given Chris Evans Clarksons script as he was just saying and doing the same things Clarkson did, like his descriptions and his screaming as he puts his foot down etc.

I'll carry on watching it though. It was destined to get bad reviews at the start as people loved the old show and didn't want it to change.

This was the bit that surprised me too, I think he came accross great as the annoyed yank with the british weather etc etc, and his section on the off road buggy was really good mainly because he didn't feel the need to scream and shout like Evans, one suggestion I read I agree with was if they want the show to work and survive then they should make him the main host, quite a dry sense of humour for a yank.

I can't see Chris Evans staying around as the co-host.
Do you remember 'Brainiac: Science Abuse' hosted by Richard Hammond and Jon Tickle? Then they attempted a spin off - 'Brainiac: History Abuse' which Hammond appeared not to want anything to do with? It was a poor imitation where every time they thought they were losing viewers' interest they'd just blow up a caravan for no reason.

That's what I thought of Chris Evans' Top Gear - it's "Brainiac: History Abuse". It was watchable, but a poor imitation of the format Clarkson, Hammond and May had shaped.

I Have just watched it and for the first episode with all new presenters I will be watching next week.

We are used to the "polished" trio.

The new guys need time to gel!

I'm sorry but didn't clarkson punch a colleague in the face?

if someone at my works punched a colleague in the face is expect them to be sacked. There's no excuse and no exception.

in regards to the show, it was really wooden and hard to watch at times, they are not going to scrap it so let's see how the team gel over the season
