I honestly don't see a problem with le blanc but I think Evans needs to stop trying to be clarkson, whether you like Chris Evans or not he usually succeeds at whatever he does so maybe he just needs to apply his usual approach to the show.

I'm sorry but didn't clarkson punch a colleague in the face?

if someone at my works punched a colleague in the face is expect them to be sacked. There's no excuse and no exception.

in regards to the show, it was really wooden and hard to watch at times, they are not going to scrap it so let's see how the team gel over the season
If you were a sole trader or the company owner you wouldn't expect to be sacked. There would probably be other consequences but you wouldn't expect to be sacked. Same with someone presenting an eponymous chat show - if they messed up you wouldn't expect them to be sacked and replaced, you would expect the programme to be cancelled and replaced with something else, something different.

Top Gear was going for about 10 years before Clarkson, but since it was cancelled and brought back as 'New Top Gear' it has always been about Clarkson. Even then the format was different to what it was at the end of the last series - Clarkson, Hammond and May made it what it was and expecting to be able to replace all the presenters and keep everything else the same just seems arrogant. If the BBC didn't want Top Gear compared with what it was, they shouldn't have tried to keep Clarkson's format without him presenting it, they could have either put the format back to the old unsuccessful one or let Evans make his own mark on it.

He wasnt the sole trader nor the owner, He was employed by the BBC which is funded by the general public. They had no other option but to sack him. What would be the consequences if they didn't? Some people would think its acceptable on some level.

Unfortunatly may and Hammond decided to leave so the show should have been scraped and a brand new show started if the BBC felt it was needed

For me Clarkson should have paid a huge fine, given a broadcasted apology to the victim and also huge financial damages but kept his job, if everyone whoever punched someone was sacked then we would all probably be on the dole. it's not like he did it on the show.
I think this has proved for the 1st time that one man is bigger than the show.

I agree with Adam to be honest. I think they've squandered their one chance to completely revamp the show. New presenters = new format for me. Clearly a lot of money has been spent on the looks and camera shots (some of which were pretty beautiful to me!) but I cant help but feel it could have been used better elsewhere. We cant forget that generally TopGear was becoming quite a sour, over-scripted show so perhaps the formats been in need of a change for a while... long before Clarksons sacking.

Cant expect Clarkson and crew to use all that money imitating what they've done on Top Gear for the last 10 years. I look forward to a completely fresh and unique car show in that respect and expect they'll deliver gladly!

Don't think they were at work Clarkson thumped him.

I thought they were on a break from recording in some part of the world but still generally in a work environment.

we all have a difference of opinion :-0 but for me, someone who is physically violent to another colleague has to be let go.

2 long term employees at my works got involved in a pushing/shouting/grappling confrontation a while ago. They were emediatly let go

I was on a job overseas once, and one particular guy was playing silly boogers, didn't want to report him, but his boss came to visit for a few days, off the record I told him about this guy (he was a well known trouble maker, a few screws loose somewhere) any way bossman says if you are going to thump him do it out of work, can't do anything if is not at work, basically giving us, me in particular carteblanche to chin him if he got out of line, I didn't I hasten to add, nearly but not quite.

At my first job I used to drink and smoke while I was working and nobody batted an eyelid - it was seen as fine for a DJ, although someone might have said something if I was a bus driver. Likewise the bouncers regularly used to eject the customers by force, something you couldn't get away with at somewhere like Claridges or the Ritz.

It's too simplistic just to say anyone who has a go at someone else at work must be sacked. While it would be inappropriate for a sparky to punch a labourer or a solicitor to punch an office boy for getting their lunch wrong, the star of a show throwing a diva strop seems to be part and parcel of working in showbusiness. I'm not saying he should have got away with it, but in sacking Clarkson the future of the show was put in jeopardy. I don't think the BBC bosses grasped the idea that while the One Show could manage without Adrian Chiles, Top Gear wouldn't be the same without Jeremy Clarkson.

I was quite surprised that they kept to the original format. I was pleasantly surprised with Mat Le Blanc's contribution, Chris Evans was exactly as I expected. Evans likes the sound of his own voice and certainly shouted lots. I watched it last night on catch up and was already prepared to hate it. I ended up enjoying it slightly more than I thought I would. But it is not the same without Clarkson, May and Hammond. Will it grow on me? I'm not sure.

I don't think it was just the punch up, I think that was the straw that broke the camels back.

He had already received warnings for racist and offensive comments etc hadn't he?

I hadn't planned to watch it as I'd given up on the Clarkson style a few years ago, but watched last night with relatives.

I won't be watching a full program again.
I'll keep checking back till they find their own interesting format, which as others have suggested may include new presenters.

I doubt they'll sort it out until at least series 2.

Ok, I admit it. I watched the 2nd episode and quite enjoyed it.

Chris Evans can be annoying - but so could Jeremy Clarkson!

Why Eddie Jordan? not sure he added much

Jenson Button driving the Mclaren with Chris Evans as passenger - I pxssed myself - Jenson Buttom should be contracted as a part time presenter.

Jeremy Clarkson is a big headed f****ing idiot. Try watching the IOM TT over the next 2 weeks if you want to see some real men involved in Motorsport. Just edited that hes a big headed arrogant f****ing idiot, sorry.
