Hi All,

Visited a job today and was asked to supply and DB in a outbuilding via a Socket in the garden.... i said i was not happy to do so and it wasn't possible.

DB was suppose to feed 4 sockets 3 lights and a little plug in heater, Client claimed she was told by 3 previous electricians this could be done and i was wrong, i left an am now being told im wrong.

I fail to see how a socket is sufficient enough to do this and have never seen or heard of this in my life, Is someone pulling my leg here?

Thoughts??

TIA

you are correct. taking off as socket for a couple of extra sockets would be OK, but to feed a DB from a socket is stupid.

Hahaha, yeah you are of course correct. Just shows how many idiots there are in our trade these days.
Was the existing socket from the kitchen sockets an extension of the ring or a spur ? If a spur, fused or unfused ?

You could reference the relevant regs and tell them you are available if they want someone who knows what they are doing.
Sometimes it's worth fighting for our trade, others it's best to leave the worthless customers to the worthless installers.

very true! Its was a single socket below kitchen window, As she wanted a quote i didn't get any tools out to check if its been spurred off.

i did say she could have socket for the outbuilding spurred from that providing it hasn't already been spurred but not a DB

Haha, there really are some proper doughnut sparks out there. Don't worry Sparky 10, Let them crack on with it mate. Crap job anyway with prob no money in it.
