I would like to install an aerial signal booster/splitter in the loft but it requires a 13A socket. There is no power in the loft so is it ok to spur off the lighting circuit (with 3/5A fuse) and then install a single socket up there?

What are peoples opinions on this? or any other suggestions?

Thanks

My concern would be that if there is a 13A socket outlet in a location any future residents may not be aware and then plug in other appliances that the circuit isn't intended to permit.

It's hard to foresee anyone plugging a hoover or kettle in in the roof space though, isn't it?

Their always seems to be a route into loft for a socket in my opinion, cupboards,or trunk up etc. That would be my choice.

Or if you configure your sky (if you have it) use the RF2 out to power an amp,but that is another discussion.

Your over-thinking it. Just wire it off the lighting cct and put a label on the socket saying "TV booster only". What's the point of using an FCU feeding the socket that someone can just stick a 13A fuse in anyway? The cct is protected by a 5/6A OCPD so in the unlikely even of someone taking up residence in the loft and plugging a kettle in it's protected.

Why wouldn't someone want to vacuum up the dead flies and cobwebs in the loft? Vacuum cleaner gets plugged in, lighting circuit trips, and the occupant has to try to get down 2 storeys in the dark in order to reset the breaker and probably do exactly the same thing again, cursing the clown who installed the socket and thinking what a dangerous situation they've just been exposed to.
Of course you can put a sticker on the socket saying nobody is allowed to plug anything else in there, but that's just going to get ignored when the need to plug something else in arises.
I'd have less of a problem with this arrangement if there was another socket next to it, connected to the power circuit, but the whole reason for doing it like this is that there isn't, and as a result of that this socket is going to get used for anything that ever needs to be plugged in in the loft.

I know the folks in Bournemouth are a bit odd but hoovering the loft is stretching things a bit I reckon.

No to all. Also would require a means of isolation for PIV - pulling a fuse wouldn't be acceptable. I don't mean to seem disrespectful, but this...
