Hi guys

Wonder if someone can help

The RCCB is not turning on. The kitchen sockets are not working.

The washing machine fuse switch sparks when you turn it on and smells.

Moreover the consumer unit made sizzling noise when trying to turn it on day later.

I have changed the fuse in the washing machine machine fuse box. Same situation

I have test instruments etc if tests need doing ?

What can be it be and what shall I test for ?

Just so you know the fridge socket is working in the kitchen so I presume it's a seperate circuit .

If you hear sizzling noises from consumer unit that is not a good sign and could be a loose connection ,I would check that out first .it could just be your turning it on with a high load attached but a visual inspection would be required ,it normally gives a fair idea if there is a slack connection or there is a fault with main switch or rcd.what sort of test instruments do you have. The washing machine switch may to have a slack connection or there is an issue with ring main.its OK having test equipment but you need to know what your looking for.it can mean dismantling parts of the installation

I have not yet... tbh its a family members house. So I need to go. So I'm gonna have to check it out later. Thought I'll get some ideas first.
Replacing the fuse on washing machine switch when there was a burning smell coming from it without at least a look inside is not a good idea it achives nothing .a full test and some visual inspection of that circuit would be required including rcd test.i would look at the test schedule on your on site guide and start from the beginning.dead testing will most probably reveal the fault .
