Hi Guys,

Just doing a bit of work on a pain in the arse house.

The customer wants a new shaver point.

The house has a old split load fuse bord, so the ring is protected.

There is also a nice socket behind where he wants the shaver point.

I alwayse take my shaver points from the lightng CRT, so my question
is. Can i just run me a bit of 2.5 as a spur to the shaver??

Or is there some obscure thing that a shaver point needs to be fused
down???

Cheers

There's nothing in BS7671 requiring you to fuse down to protect the shaver socket, unless as Malcolm says, there is something in the manufacturer's instructions.
However, you will have to provide RCD protection.

The socket CRT is already on the RCD side, so there is protection provided there.

The shaver unit is one out of another room in his house, so there is no manufacturer destructions this time around.

Cheers chaps.

The rcd spur being fitted is probably because there wasn't rcd protection of that supply.
