Soffit lighting

I had someone ring me up yesterday regarding installation of some soffit lighting on an external garage. I'm going to look at it over the weekend however I'm just wondering if anybody has done this before and what they have installed? I'm swaying towards just fitting some led spots. I did think about a decking light kit though but it may not be bright enough? Also need to see how he wants them switching e.g pir/on a timer/manual switch.

use GU10 LED spots. options for switching are

1. manual. 2. timer +photocell. 3. PIR. 4. PIR with manual override.

Just beware, if its a old garage the soffit could be made from asbestos.

Thanks for replies It's a fairly new property so shouldn't be an issue with asbestos but thanks for the heads up

Whenever I see soffit lights that have been fitted for a while they always seem to look grubby, a swine to clean etc etc, much prefer those wall mounted spots that wash the wall upwards and downwards. If it's a new house it may be worth checking that no warranties are voided due to the drilling and so on.

I'd go for integrated IP rated LED fittings if external in a soffit such as JCC Led 3 or 6 or Ansell Orbio 360s.

Good call I ve just fitted some orbio 360s in a sofit IP65, Customer was made up with them.

Me too but it almost gets stuck sometimes.

you must have dainty hands. i can't get mine in anything less than 90mm.

My left hand however doesn't fit in for some reason. My old boss/mentor could get his in a 70mm cut out...always knew he was a hobbit.
