thats what i was thinking, connect all the MC3's on the sanyo's then you sould be left with 2 ends to go back to the inverter, just cut them and fit MC4, so only need MC4 connectors.

has anyone checked if cutting off the ends of the cable invalidates the warranty? (both performance and product).

The majority of the module manufactures that I have used/researched invalidate their warranty if you cut off their connectors

Well I suppose with warranties in mind, its worth buying a couple of ends that match the panel and a couple to match the inverter and make up the long connectos cable with these on the end, Bit of a pain in the proverbial though, as it means more bits of different things to keep in the van/toolbelt, more tools to buy etc etc. idont imagine that the manufacturers will get together and all agree on a terminal, but it would be nice. mc4 for me!

Totally agree with you in all respects cal, installations would be much more simpler if the manufactures would just agree on a connector!! however it seems nothing is ever simple these days!! MC4 for the win!

Kyocera modules are on MC3, and GBSol modules are on MC4

It is best to match up whenever, but I prefer using MC4. I did have a desperate situation were I was miles away from home and had NO MC3 ends. Best solution for me was to cut just 1 end off, a risk I calculated was worth it as it would cost me ÂŁ150 round trip for the sake of a panel that cost me ÂŁ200. Made an MC3 to MC4 adaptor and used it in one end, put an MC4 on the freshly made bare end.

I'm just interested to see which way the market is going and what the most used connector is. I didn't realise that Sanyo panels are still using the older MC3 connections. How are you wiring up sanyo systems, using adaptors for at each panel? Wiring the array in MC3 then finishing off with sunclix? Do you stock all the connectors? Please discuss...
sanyo mc3 all the way to inverta then mc4!! mc4 on the rest!! wont be anyone buying sanyo now so that should be end of mc3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Radox twist lock are by far the easiest to use, and the most secure........

know its an older thread, but 'Latitude' panels use Tyco (blue neg fem) connectors

Hi New to the forum grate site!!!
Question: installers installed 10 Sanyo 250w panels and Fronius Inverter IG30v. On some panels they cut off MC3 Sanyo original connectors and replaced them with MC4. As probably installers did not have MC3 connectors and crimping tool with them. Sanyo panels look like use 6mm strings cable diameter, installers used 4mm cable to connect panels together as 10 panels spread across 3 roof spaces. Now, reading this thread I concerned about Sanyo warranty. Is it voided if you cut off original MC3 and replace them with MC4? Is it ok to connect 6mm cable with 4mm? What connectors they should of used on Fronius IG30V inverter MC3 or MC4? Panels have been shipped to one of Caribbean island and now if warranty voided they have to ship other load!!!! Please advice
Thank you
