hello all i am currently sub contracting for a company that have just started to go into PV and they have gone to a large company to supply all the panels rail etc (because they don't know what to get) after a meeting with this company this morning their rep informed me i charge to much for the installation and need to drop my prices to win more work (or so he can raise his prices) i priced around ÂŁ1000 for three people for 2-3 days to fit 16 panels run the cables internally to the garage where the inverter will be with a separate DB and to Earth the water and oil, including all the cable, conduit, clamps etc, anyway he told me that the roof work should cost no more than ÂŁ150 and the materials will be no more than ÂŁ70 and the electrical work is no more than ÂŁ200, some how the little --- could tell all that from looking at his spreadsheet, anyway what I'm trying to get on to is who do you use to supply your panels, rail, hooks and inverters??
thank you, (sorry to rant!!)

There are some companies who claim they can do all that in half a day (2 installs per day).

If this is your first install then you need to take a little longer, but with 3 of you it shouldn't take 3 days!

we've done a few now but its abit of a ****ty roof, whats the average cost for a electrician for solar??

I think industry standard is 1 install a day with 3 men (two roofers an one electrician) but obviously could run over in to the next day a little if bonding and cable routes etc are a headache.

Break your costs down for x amount per meter for bonding, x amount per meter for external cable run, x amount for internal cable run, x amount for sub board, and so on then every thing will be easy to price and you and the company you are fitting pv for will know where each other stands when it comes to pricing a job from survey.

We have never taken more than a day to install 4kw!
Apart from slate roofs.
We just done 12kw in 3 days (3 people) ÂŁ1000 is well overpriced, although his prices are a little low. Around ÂŁ600-700 plus AC(ÂŁ70 easily) should be more competitive
If it takes your roofers longer than a day, you need new roofers

Sounds like your having a bit of a nightmare there. I've used these before Green Trader 24: Solar PV Systems Supply, Design & Installation for my panels and inverters etc. They are really helpful I'd just give them a call explain your situation.
