I remember a few years ago in the heyday of domestic PV installations when the FIT was still high that many of the system components such as panels and maybe inverters were being sold with 20 or 25 year warranties. I remember thinking at the time this was some sort of gimmick and there was no way most of these warranties and guarantees could be worth the paper they were written on.

I'm interested to see a few years on whether suppliers and manufacturers are actually honouring these warranties. What chance does a customer realistically have of getting a settlement of a warranty claim for equipment that was installed possibly 5 years ago?

Samil bankrupted their UK subsidiary who the warranty was held with IIRC.

Most of the others that are still in business seem to be honoring them so far.

I have a warranty claim against Worldwide Energy (Amerisolar) for a failed module. The importer supplier went away some years back so I am claiming as installer. Still waiting for a positive response after 3 months.
