Hello.

I've just registered on this site after stumbling across it on the web and am looking for some advice if possible.
I started a electrical apprentiship about 15 years ago, completed 2 years and dropped out. Regretted it almost ever since and now looking to get started again.

I am currently working full time in an unrelated job, so any study/courses would have to be done around my job. I have been looking at various courses on the web but i'm not really sure what my next move should be?

Any advice welcome..... Hopefully i've posted this in the correct section, apologies if not...

personally id start again from scratch, might take a 2 or 3 years at night school(i mean college) but as the lads will tell you on here some fully qualified sparks are struggling for work,i done the full route at college and had 10 yrs in the game before moving sideways into alarms, tell you what mate i wouldnt have a clue now, theres young lads out there, and on here would leave me standing and you have the even younger lads coming thru,im playing catch up on here,so much ive either forgot or didnt know with reg changes etc, depending on your age id try something different,as you might just waste alot of money for no reward..

Thanks for the replies.

I think it's probably best to start from scratch. Ideally i would want to go to college, maybe fast track some of the stuff, if possible and maybe work with a contractor in order to help with the practical side of things.

Having a look at the various courses it appears to have changed an awful lot in the past 10 years or so.
My mind is made up though to be qualified as an electrician, and possibly specialise in a certain area, but i'm getting a bit ahead of myself....

I am based in Scotland, apparentlyl the Part P stuff doesn't apply, other than that i haven't a clue what i should be looking at training for.

Any help is appreciated.
