Hi guys,

Im after abit of advice on electrics, My partner is selling her house and moving in with me, The house is basicly sold
But we have hit a snag and know nothing about it really.

She had a new kitchen fitted in 2007, her ex partner sorted it with the company, the company was a proper company and she paid
for by finace

we dont have the certs or guratee

can we get an electrician to come and check the work and get a certificate to say the work, is to the industry standards

sean

You will need to get a EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) done by an Electrician to pass it off. It really should have been certified upon completion but like so many great companies they unfortunately did not do it.
If any discrepancies lie with the kitchen installation then they will need to be corrected before a satisfactory outcome will be noted on the certificate.
Good luck.

Yes they are.
we dont mind getting said inspection, done, what is EICR and what would be average cost
for a kitchen it would be 6 power points
a cert was given but think it with ex husband when he left in 2009

An EICR would be best done to cover the entire installation, and all circuits.

The price would depend on:

1. Your location
2. The size of the property
3. The number of circuits
4. The agreed scope of the EICR
5. Whether you are willing to pay a competent Electrician to do it properly.

If somebody says they'll do it for ÂŁ50 it won't be worth the paper its written/printed on. If its ÂŁ125 upwards you should get a resonable job done!

ok. we are happy to have whole house tested, we have been asked only about the kitchen.
we have no idea about this,
whats would be reseanoble cost
what do we look for in a compitant electrician
we are looking to do things right. not on the cheap, but dont want to pay thru the nose
as they say

Hi again, "trying to save money" doesn't really come into it. We parted company with the original sparky, as he was so unreliable. Jon

Problems can arise when you get on too well then they think he won’t mind me doing a bit.
