this is what i have down at the moment.......is there anything that you guys would add?

An earth fault is the most common fault in electrical circuits. An earth fault may consist of a circuit breaker tripping, a fuse blowing, or an RCD (neutral to earth) instantly or it may not re-engage.
The fix for this would be to do the half test method which is explained at the end of the index. The instrument I would use is an IR tester to find the fault or if there are any conductors touching. I could also utilise the switch wire on the lighting circuits for an earth fault.

cheers for any input :)

Agree with darkwood here, best to get used to writing the correct terminology instead of lazy abbreviations like we do on here and if you do choose to refer to a patten of testing, explain it ! even if it is in part, then the lecturer will know you understand what you are writing.
The word fault which we use all the time can mean many things so we use it in conjunction with another term, I think it would be good for you to grasp the differences in the types of fault you can get first as it will help you to understand ways to explain them.
It seems to me from your OP that you obviously have heard of a lot of different devices associated with circuits and when you can describe each one and the job it plays within a circuit it will make more sense in how/why one would operate.
Hope that helps and good luck with your research.
