someone knock me out or enlighten me

went to fit a fan this evening in a small boiler room, the boiler room has a duct about 2 meters, which just had two grills on it. so i thought id run l-n-e through 3A switched spur then l-n-e to the fan, so using the spur as a switch was my aim, but no matter what i did it wouldnt work. when i come home and try it at home it works with the switched live, permanent live, and neutral.............


does these bathrooms fans require switched live , permanent live and neutral to work??????? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, sos thanks

About 1980 ish, when copper shortage was about. Biggest problem with aluminium was a reaction between aly and copper.
