Went to look at this shower today. Customer says it’s not heating up.

Tried everything, and I can’t find the problem......

Can anyone suggest what could be wrong??

??????????

Had you going there, didn’t I.

elderly customers very happy with me going out on a Saturday to replace this. Extra £25 on the cheque, so happy happy!

This thing went with a bang, fire brigade and paramedic as the old lady got a lungful of black smoke.

The neutral looks to be the culprit here.

percy the plumber was sure 2.5mm twist joined to the 6mm with a bit of tape over would be OK. ( i have actually come across such in the past.).

There’s no suggestion that the shower was improperly installed in the first place. Had been there 12 years according to the manufacturing date stamped on it.

just glad Mira still made this model. Perfect replacement re screw holes etc.

On the subject of electric showers, a pal gave me this today and i wondered if it would be ok as an isolator for a 9.5kw Mira?
You could surprise people by. Using it on a selv circuit to operate a contactor for the shower

The contactor idea had occurred to me, but that missing screw...have to get the soldering iron out!
The insulation between the brass toggle and the switch contacts is somewhat tenuous, being a couple of wafer-thin layers of some unknown material which is a bit crumbly...
"By Royal Warrant to HM The King" is embossed on the base, so it should be good to go...
The mechanism does work beautifully though, so I may just install it on a 12V circuit to summon my butler.
