Have a customer that would like a spa Bath. Would an IP66 switched fuse spur beneath the bath, fused at 13 amps, off the ring that is protected by RCD be ok? Is there a better way?
Thanks for your help

if the spur can only be accessed by the use of a tool you are ok but I wouldn't put a connection inside a bathroom. I would do my best to have it outside. If you need to extend the cable of the spa bath you could use a wispa box with magic gell. I am sure some will say that is over doing it but hey ho. Alternative wagos in a wago or wispa box then its maintance free.

Just repaired one with a 13A FCU outside the bathroom and an IP junction box on the other side of the wall within the bath surround. As mentioned before, as long as its accessable with a tool only. RCD in place, no probs...........

I'm pretty sure the spa has a panel that can be removed without a tool. Looking at the OSG it says this should then be treated as zone 1. Because of this and because of the way the house is set out it would be ideal to just run a cable from the Consumer Unit to underneath the bath (just the other side of the wall) and connect up a ip66 swithed fuse spur, then connect the spa to the spur. Is it ok that this point of isolation is behind the spa panel? If it gets inspected by a trade inspectorate are they going to rattle off a reg that says this doesn't comply?

no doesnt need to be as long as there is a panel we used to fit fused spur in room next to bathroom and a connection plate under bath niceic didnt have any probs with this method, realistically its not likely to see any water unless pipe bursts or room fills up with water, havin said that this is when i was working for someone else no as i work for myself for piece of mind id fit suitable ip rated enclosure its hardly goin to break the bank!
