Hi,

i have age been asked by a company that I sub-contract to to carry out a 30kw PV install on a farm which has a split phase supply using Fronius split phase inverters. I have not done a PV install on this system before so I'm looking for some advice on wiring and what switchgear will be required and metering etc?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Split phase is basically 2 x single phase supplies, which are 180 deg apart, as opposed to 120 deg for 3 phase.

So the voltage between phases is 460V.

You could use 3 phase switch gear, as long as its rated for the higher voltage. Not so sure how the metering would be done, maybe 2 x single phase meters?

Split phase is centre tapped at 0°.

Contact the DNO to find their requirements, you may find that a 460V transformer is needed to feed in to the high and low legs at the same time. The DNO’s transformer will sort out load imbalance.

Think all has been covered already, but echo-ing the above if I was getting my DB swapped and had a 3 phase head, I would put a little TPN board...
