ive allways fitted a fused spur abouve any socket below work top height as all other sparkies i have ever worked with have done and i was tought it was needed.
my 17th regs teacher said it wasnt needed as the switch on the socket outlet meets the reg requiring isolation.
i think im been misled somewhere here!
 
One way to reduce the number of fused spurs above the worktops is to fit socket outlets in base unit cupboards next to the appliance, therefore socket accessible to isolate!
 
That's been mentioned more than once already mate.Think I've read somewhere its frowned upon though!Because it's not on the fabric of the building or something?Don't see why this would be a problem.How often does a kitchen get changed?Nine times out of ten a spark is in to shift stuff around anyway
