Spur advice

T

TonyD11

Hi There, just want to check something

I want to take a spur off the ring, but then I want to take a spur off the spur, my question is this where do I place a fused outlet, before the first spur or after the first spur?

I need a single socket which will power a washing machine, and the second spur to a double socket for general domestic appliances, but I'm not sure where to place the fused outlet

is this advisable?

Thank in advance

As Spin said and you also need to have a look at the demand of the 2 appliances and think about if they will be running at the same time. If the total current demand is likely to be more than 13A it is not going to work satisfactorily. Any appliances that are designed to heat are likely to have a high current demand.

Current = power(watts)/230V

is it too much trouble to run 2 cables instead of 1 and thus preserve the ring?

Glad I came on here now, it didn't occur to me to continue the ring, (Doh) no need to interrupt the ring and no need of a FCU

Thanks guys appreciate it

No you'd use a plasterboard box with the "wings".

What exactly are you defining as a plasterboard box?
To my mind, they are the sort where you cut out a hole in the plasterboard, and then insert the box.
The box being plastic, with a device either side that pops out into the cavity and then clamps against the plaster when the faceplate screws are tightened.

Thats the beauties!
