Spur from a spur?

P

Paul Downham

Hi all, I need to install x2 spurs in a bathroom, one for a shower pump that is hidden behind a false wall with the pump and the other for a whirlpool bath.

The only place I can find power is from the other side of the wall, from a lounge socket. Each pump has a 0.5 Kw power rating so I am using 1.5mm cable with 5amp fuses per spur, however, is it ok to spur from the 1st spur?

Thoughts please people.

Many thanks

To enable you to be able to take two spurs from that one point you will have to take the first spur in 2.5 mm t and e to an unswitched fused spur with a 13 amp fuse and then supply both pumps.

I'd say use 2.5 from the socket to a FCU, then two more FCU's connected as a "radial", one for each appliance.

A spur from a 32a ring circuit should be in minimum 2.5mm.......Murcochs post is the correct way to comply with the regs......however as the total load will be fixed at 1kw,and technically you could use a double socket and run both loads off one spur (whats the difference?)...I cant see a problem with feeding both FCU's off a single 2.5mm spur leg......dont forget this comes under part P.
