Hi all,

Apologies if this has already been posted but I can’t find the answer.

It is considered ok to be able to install a socket outlet spurred from a 32A ring. Would it be considered ok to install one single socket directly from the 32A MCB in 2.5 T&E.

One socket straight from the MCB would become a radial, however I can’t understand the difference between installing a socket from MCB and taking a spur from another socket.

Hope this makes sense, cheers

either way, your socket would be classed as a spur. you can fit 1 single or 1 double socket on an unfused spur, either from a socket or from the MCB (RCD protection must be present).

Ya they're both considered spurs

I suppose you could consider the double socket a fixed load in a way as i think they're rated at 20A so probably risk of overcurrent not that great

We've outlawed the unfused spurs here(domestic anyway afaik)
So you've got to fuse at 13amp when spurring off a rfc
