Morning fellas

My firm is a big nationwide facilities management company and my boss rang me to say that he will be putting me on the sssts course as its there in house version of the iosh, has anyone got any info about it regarding the accreditation if it recognised by others? I've been told that's its quite hard so has anyone got any reading material that I could posssibly help?

Thanks fellow sparks

Tom

Surely this can't be a iosh equivalent then? I mean iosh is for supervisors and not standard operatives? I don't work on site I work mainly on petrol stations, I was aiming to get a supervisory role in the bear future.

It's a breeze, if it's anything like the one I did there will be 1 or 2 sparks, a couple of plumbers and an army of groundworkers. Exam is easy, multi choice. Must be easy cos I got 100%

The hardest part for some people was the toolbox talks where you are given a subject and have to stand up in front of the class and give a toolbox talk on it. You get a book outlining what to say though. When I say it was hard for some people that was purely nerves as they weren't confident standing up and giving a talk.

I had a few nerves myself but just reminded myself that I would never meet any of them again so it didn't matter if it went t*ts up.

One guy couldn't do it, he was shaking like a leaf and the course tutor was saying come on just rattle through it, you need to do it to pass. He didn't do it, the poor lad was a bag of nerves but he passed anyway, work that one out!

Haha that's brilliant! Surely if it stands for 'site supervisor safety training scheme' I thought it would just people looking to get into a supervisory role in the future! I feel a tad deflated now lol thanks for the input tho guys defo opened my eyes to it, I've never seen a ion advertised where this is needed tbh
