Stairlights headache

Hi guys got a bit of a problem with a job involving LED recessed stair lights. It's a client who feeds me a lot of works own house and had a staircase fitted a few years ago complete with eyelens LEDs. The company that installed them went bust this year. The problem is 1 LED has decided to stop working and I can't get something that is similar in size to fit the hole which is a 35mm cut out with a depth of 5mm. I've installed only a few of these systems in the past but not had to replace any when they go out. I tried sourcing the Eyelens but it turns out they are from Holland and the only distributor in Scotland wants £1000 for a 6pack of lights which the client obviously wouldn't pay. All the other lights I've seen in the wholesalers have been either too deep or the hole is too small. Anyone came across something similar as I'm struggling for a solution and can't just tell the client it can't be done as he gives me about 1/4 of my annual work through his letting agency.

Where is the driver for the fittings?

Rip them apart and insert a G4 LED and reassemble!
Good as new.

Replace the faulty LEDS and re use the original fitting,
If your good with an soldering iron it's do-able
a bit fiddly I should think, but do-able.

Just think ,like the britsh navy advert, if you can fix that you can go on to fix a helicopter.

Thanks for some good and funny answers guys lol. I thought about soldering them but the units are completely sealed so no chance of swapping out the LED. The Poland idea sounds best so think i'll try that.

Phone the UK supplier and argue the fact that you can buy them in from Poland at £60 per unit, also double check when they where installed and email the manufacturer re a warranty claim *(an invoice within the 5 year time scale "may" suddenly found)

*I do not advocate fraud but it seems the manufacturer and supplier are trying it on so its worth a punt.

Just checked Mr Resistor these types of lights are in the range of £35 to £55 + vat each so the quote for £1000 for 6 is a rip off.

Is there any reason the depth of the hole can’t be increased?

The op has only one out , i would be better for him to get a replacement then making a hole bigger.

He's only got the depth available . Any deeper and he'll be through the other side I would imagine.
