No such thing as a Star Delta Motor Tom, it's how it is connected that determines wether it is S/D, can you post a picture of the wiring in the starter?

No but plenty of motors that are NOT suitable.

230/400 motors would never be connected star delta.

Motors are not connected star delta, it is one or the other. Then can start in star and run in delta.

Out of interest, what size is the pump motor?

I am not sure I will check it when I go to see it. Iv been sent a pic of the dol though...
