10mins for the light to switch on! must be a starter in the flourescent fitting but would also change the tube just to be sure.

I always end up changing both.... It's just easier

Cable is too long from the switch, it needs shortening so the signal can get there quicker!

If the issue has been ongoing for a while, the tube will want replacing too as its life will be short.

In reality, the cost of a tube and starter must be about £3, why not just change the damn pair of them before asking the question?
