I'm starting out myself from the end of October, mostly domestic work to start but would be looking for commercial work as well. I've been looking to get a van and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. I don't want a small van as I don't have anywhere to store material/plant etc so will be working out it. Also if anyone can recommend a good but not too expensive multi function test kit that would be great.( i've been looking at metrel).thanks

toyota hiace for the van. big enough for anyone, 40mpg and they don't break down. mine is an '04, 180,000 on the clock. just flew MOT without any advisories. should be able to get a 2004/5 for under 2K. as for MFT, i swear by megger, but others prefer fluke or metrel. test-meter.co.uk is a forum sponsor and will be very helpful with advice. nowt wrong with buying 2nd hand as long as it's calibrated.

Hi, I started 7 years ago with a Citroen Dispatch, then moved up to a Citroen Relay, I found them to be great vans, but also had a Citroen car, that was c**p, MD
I have a Citroen Dispatch and love it. Although it could do with some shelving as the back is a mess!
